Farcis Niçois

by | Jul 3, 2023 | Food

The word “farcis” translates to “stuffed,” and that’s exactly what this dish is all about. Farcis refers to a variety of vegetables, such as bell peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, and eggplants, that are hollowed out and filled with a flavorful mixture of ground meat, herbs, vegetables, and sometimes rice. In this recipe, we’re going to attempt it with large bell peppers.

Ingredients Farcis Niçois

6 large bell peppers (assorted colors)

450g ground beef

1 onion, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 cup cooked rice

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Salt and pepper to taste

Olive oil for drizzling

How to make Niçois

Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).

Cut off the tops of the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, cooked rice, Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Stuff each bell pepper with the meat mixture, packing it tightly. Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil.

Bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the meat is cooked through. Serve hot.
